Wisdom Traditions

Belief systems and wisdom traditions have significant influences on shaping understandings and approaches to various aspects of society, including education. This survey course examines how globally influential religious and wisdom traditions’ worldviews shape approaches to education. Case studies will offer opportunities to examine K-12 educational systems and models based on some of these traditions’ teachings as well as encourage a critical analysis of representations of dominant and marginalized religious and wisdom traditions in various educational systems and curricula.
